Viagénie's IPv6 address

Getting IPv6 addresses from registries is very difficult. The requester has to demonstrate its experience in IPv6, that is connected to the 6Bone and that he is going to have an IPv6 Internet over a long period of time.

On behalf of Canarie, Viagénie requested and obtained IPv6 addresses to ARIN. Those will be allocated to organisations connected to the CA*net3 IPv6 network. Difficult to be aggreed, IPv6 address demand is reviewed in depth not only by ARIN, but also by external advisors. The great expertise of Viagénie in IPv6 and its experience as a manager, with Dalhousie University, of the CA*net2 network has contributed to be chosen as an IPv6 registry.

Viagénie also got an Autonomous system number (ASN). These addresses will give us a tool to manage IPv6 networks and to give IPv6 address to our client. Moreover, those will allow us to connect routers between IPv6 partners by using the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
