IPv6 protocol project
As a new protocol, IPv6 solves many limitations of the current protocol by
increasing the number of possible IP addresses allocated to computers on the
Internet and by insuring better robustness of the protocol. Security functions
will also be integrated.
At a
local
, a
national
or an
international
level, the user can easily upgrade to IPv6, without any problem.
IPv6 on your company network
To help migrating to IPv6 on your organisation network, some mechanisms should
be used to facilitate deployment. Viagénie had conceived a system that allows
IPv6 address assignment and connectivity via IPv4 for any Internet connected
system.
Canadian IPv6 network
Viagénie has deployed an IPv6 Canadian network on the Canarie network for
universities and research centers. Moreover, a test bed had been set up on the
IP network. This would allow an evaluation of IPv6 implementation under routers
and plate-form environment.

International IPv6 tunnel server
Viagénie has set up on the Internet a server and different services that allow
you to get IPv6 connectivity and a link toward 6Bone. This free service is
available for FreeBSD, Windows NE, Linux and Cisco environments.

However, Viagénie, Canarie and ESNet will do an IPv6 exchange at StarTap, in
Chicago.
